Special Events

Literacy Volunteer-Pitt County offers a variety of free adult tutoring services to all adults in our community. Our ability to do so depends greatly upon contributions of time and resources from individuals, civic organizations, local businesses, and grants.

Approximately one fourth of our operating budget is generated through annual special events and made possible by support from our Board of Directors, staff, and community volunteers. Contact us at (252)353-6578 or info@pittliteracy.org to order tickets and learn how you can become involved!

Literacy Volunteers Pitt County is excited to announce our 30th Anniversary Pearl Celebration on Saturday, May 20th at the Greenville Hilton. Come out, WEAR YOUR PEARLS and enjoy a fun and festive night celebrating Literacy Volunteer's 30 years of service to Pitt County. Did you know that 14% of adults in Pitt County have “below basic” skills? For them they cannot complete a job application, use a TV guide, read a street map or signs or read the instructions on a medicine bottle. For them, simple everyday tasks present real problems.

The volunteers and staff of Literacy Volunteers Pitt County work tirelessly every day to eradicate Literacy in Pitt County and on Saturday, May 20th at 6pm, we will celebrate the work of the past, present and future. The evening promises to be exciting, fun and informative with Pitt Community College's President, Dennis Massey as the keynote speaker.

For tickets please contact Literacy Volunteers of Pitt County.

The Literacy Volunteers – Pitt County Toast to Literacy Party has been held for over ten years. Each year, one generous host family opens their home to all "friends of literacy" for a fabulous wine and cheese party provided by the Board of Directors. Patrons are asked to make a donation to attend. This event is a wonderful opportunity to bring our many friends up to date on the programs and services currently offered by Literacy Volunteers – Pitt County and for the Board to say "thank you" to our many supporters!

The Enriching Minds Series is designed to bring informative, inspirational, and entertaining guest authors to Greenville.
